Happy February

It is bright, sunny, and warmish (40's) outside. The snow is slowly melting, and the huge drifts of fluffiness are collapsing in on themselves as the snow melt packs down what flakes remain beneath. Yesterday was the first day of the year in this part of the world where sunset occurred after 5 p.m. (5:01 to be exact). It's always encouraging when the sun is still up after the end of the nominal workday. This is the month when we get a Staff of Ra effect at my workplace, as the rays from the setting sun stream though my office window and illuminate otherwise windowless areas deep in the building. Very neat.

Other than that, there's not much to report. Last night I got terribly sleepy around 9, so I went to bed early and slept through til 7. Even had some dreams that I can vaguely recall. I had my annual physical last week, and I'm basically healthy, other than that the past year of inactivity because of the accident and later my back has let me gain back all the weight I'd lost, and then some. I'm also in the worst aerobic shape I've ever been in, which needs to change now that my back has mostly healed. To that end, I set up the widowmaker on a stationary bike stand down in the basement the other day. There is some good news on the health front, in that I had a cold a couple of weeks ago and my lungs seem to have gotten through it practically unscathed.
