Be Nice to Yourself - Sunday

The meds are still kicking my ass, but I managed to get in much quality computer gaming and video watching yesterday, along with the addition of jigsaw puzzle working. Had a mini Matthew Broderick festival, watching Ladyhawke and The Freshman, both of which I had bought a while ago and had just never gotten around to putting in the player. Also finished off season 1 of Futurama, and capped the day off with Twister, all the while working on a puzzle of the lighthouses of America. All in all, a nice way to spend a lovely day. (Even if I really did want to be on my bike, drat it all.)

I also rummaged through my old unbuilt model kits looking for something suitable to build on the spur of the moment, but then (as usual) my thought processes went into anal-retentive perfectionist mode, and I was done. Mind, I am not nearly as big a perfectionist as a lot of people who build kits are, the ones who fashion 1/72 scale brake line harnesses to fit into the inside of a P-51 wheel well, but once I do start working on a kit I need to have the right paint and tools and all the other accoutrements on hand. The tools I still have. The paints are iffy, though, because they haven't seen the light of day in ages. The other problem with paints are they take a long time to dry, so there's a lot of time spent impatiently waiting for the chance to move the project along. The upshot of all this is that I didn't build anything yesterday, but I did have a lot of fun looking through a bunch of old kits, dry-fitting pieces together, and thinking about what I need to get so that I could actually build one.

I got one other piece of good news this weekend when I opened my quarterly 401K statement. It went up for the first time in, like, two years. Woo hoo!
