Summer's Gone

'Twas a good weekend, all in all. Saturday morning was put aside for ruining erands (as a fellow TA at URI once posted on a sign he left taped to his lab door to explain to his students why he wasn't around for office hours). Picked up a lug nut for the rear wheel of my truck to replace the one I managed to lose, and installed it. The fix I did on the tire seems to have worked after all, so it looks like I don't need to buy a new tire. Woo!

Also did a quick and dirty fix of the rear derailleur of the bike, and that seems to have worked, too. At least it'll last until I can get it properly adjusted by someone who knows what they're doing. Took it down to the bike path, and did 18 miles. My time was pretty good, too, despite pretty much running out of gas by about the 3/4 mark.

Saturday evening I took a ride down to New Haven to have dinner with noisedesign, who's starting a massive east coast tour. It was fun. Never actually walked around New Haven before, despite having driven through it eleventy million times on my way to and from NJ. Yale has some very neat looking buildings.

Today I celebrated the equinox by putting the first application of stain on all the surfaces of twelve of the shelves. Tomorrow I'll do a second application, then put on a couple of coats of polyurethane on them later in the week. That was pretty much it for the day. It's a shame because it was lovely out, but I didn't really feel all that well. Actually wound up taking a nap this afternoon, which is way unusual for me. I hate taking naps, because I'm always groggy and useless the rest of the day.
